SERVING THE INDIAN ARMED FORCES
..You find a lot of advertisement asking young men to join the Armed Forces. This blog is a critical examination to reveal the bogus claims in the Advertisements.
1.National Spirit : In India all Politicians are corrupt. All Government Officials are corrupt. In Karnataka and Maharastra, there are MLAs openly supporting the Corrupt leaders. Even the Prime Minister is now found supporting the Corrupt. Criminals are in power. Even Dawood has his supporters in Bombay in the highest echelons. All states quarrel among themselves as if they are enemy countries. Today National Spirit is nothing but an illusion.
2.Personal Gain: There is no money in the Armed Forces. Your life is always disturbed. Family may remain separated from you without any support and children's education will remain disjointed. All your relatives will remain strangers by the time you end your Service. Other than limited funds and pension, you will retire with nothing else- even without any close friends in your place of settlement.
3.Adventure: You will be kicked around to different places. But the life is so demanding that you will hardly find any time to enjoy. Of course you can eat and drink in the evenings, paying for it. The booze is the later solace for many during their paltry retired existence.
4. Prestige : A Police Constable will have more prestige than a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Armed Forces. They are gazetted Officers, but the Government have equated them with Upper Division Clerks. An Inspector is any day more important than any Army Officer, other than General Officers.
5.Life: During training your life will be worse than that of a jail bird. Your service conditions will be hazardous. If you have a workaholic or sadist as your Bose, you have to have a miserable existence under him. There is no freedom for you to demand leave or a transfer as a right. In fact you come under Armed Forces Act and Rules of Colonial Vintage. The armed Forces Administration is under the Defence Secretariat with the Chief s of Staff having very little say on Pay, Perks, Funds, Pension and Welfare
6. Conclusion: If you are a Matric, join as a Police Constable or as a Peon in the Government Service. If you are a Graduate do anything in the Civil, but do not join the Armed Forces. Once trapped into it you willnot be able riggle out of it. And when you get out, you will have all the problems in the world with none to help you.

A POEM ON FAITH
I believe in Buddha,Christ and Mohamed,
Each immense as matter, space and time.
They taught sympathy, love and devotion.
They preached truth,goodness and godliness.
Perhaps their spirit is hardened in institutes,
But honest to God I believe in all the three.
I am a Hindu believing in traditional worship
Of ant hills, trees, snakes, birds and animals,
The saints and avatars, both living and dead
And the temple statues with rituals and chants.
And you who pray to your own unknown airy-fairy god
Are not qualified to belittle and mock my ancestral ways.
Now the last point: my faith is based on human dignity.
I have only one God and He is but my Soul within.
